Chip | Uploaded - 23 Nov 2007 22:58 Bill, I've downloaded your scripts5 program and have been acquainting myself with it. I think I've got it figured out but I'm having one problem and I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or there's a bug in the program. The problem I'm having is trying to add character instructions Any thoughts? Chip |
Bill Williams | Uploaded - 23 Nov 2007 23:00 Hi Chip, Which particular template are you using? I take it that you mean the Parenthesis Facility to show mood for the actor. I'm not aware of any problem with the keystrokes for them, but tell me which Regards |
Chip | Uploaded - 23 Nov 2007 23:00 I've been working with the sample "stage5c" version. Everything seems to work correctly except for the "parenthesis" keystroke. |
Bill Williams | Uploaded - 23 Nov 2007 23:01 You are right, the keystroke for parenthesis does not work in that template, because keystroke sets a whole paragraph style. I must check the other templates too, but I suspect that the keystroke for Parenthesis will only work in those formats in which the Wryly appears on a line by itself, which I think are the Film formats. Meanwhile, the workaround is to just type the parenthesis as the first part of the dialogue and then tidy it up afterwards by highlighting each parenthesis portion and drop down the "format" menu and choose Parenthesis. I remember making special coding to make that work. Regards

Blunderwunder | Uploaded - 23 Jul 2010 18:51 Hi. Having huge fun with the software I bought from you last year. Thanks. Couldn't find anything else like it. All I need is someone to take on the play! It's just that the parenthesis function doesn't seem to work - for the BBC Stage template ('Version 5 for Word 2000 and Word XP'- which is Word 2003, as far as I can tell!) using Word 2003 in Windows Vista. Using either keystrokes or the toolbar button, it simply italicizes the text and colours it pale blue. Shouldn't it add brackets and capitalize, which is the correct BBC stage format for parenthesis? |
Bill Williams | Uploaded - 31 Jul 2010 02:12 Sorry I did not spot your message until today. There is not a lot of traffic here :-) It would not add the brackets I think. And it looks as if I did not find that particular bit of BBC lore, so I just used the italic indication as used on other formats. Sorry about that. None of the normal functions of WORD are disabled by using the Toolkit, so it should be relatively easy to Highlight the actual text of the parenthesis and then from the fonts menue choose to capitalize it. Menue->Format ->Fonts -> allcaps As a Newbie writer you should only use parenthesis very sparingly anyway else you upset the actors by "telling them what to do". Bill. Bill Williams | Uploaded - 31 Jul 2010 02:41 Word XP is actually Word 2002, but it is almost the same as Word 2003.
